Nobody Wants This Review: Kristen Bell and Adam Brody’s Chemistry is Absolutely Electric
Get ready for your next favorite rom-com obsession. Netflix’s new series Nobody Wants This arrives with a premise that sounds like a quirky setup – an outspoken, irreverent woman falls for a thoughtful, charming rabbi – but blossoms into something genuinely special, thanks almost entirely to the undeniable, electric chemistry between its leads, Kristen Bell and Adam Brody.
The series, created by Erin Foster (and loosely inspired by her own relationship), pairs Bell as Erin, a loud, filter-free podcast producer, with Brody as Noah, a recently single rabbi navigating dating life. On paper, they seem worlds apart, their lifestyles and perhaps even core values clashing. Yet, from their very first awkward encounter, the sparks don’t just fly; they practically set the screen alight.
Bell is perfectly cast as Erin, bringing her signature blend of sharp comedic timing and underlying vulnerability. She makes Erin’s sometimes abrasive honesty feel authentic rather than just a caricature. Brody, meanwhile, sheds any lingering teen-drama image with a performance full of warmth, wit, and quiet charisma as Noah. He embodies the rabbi’s thoughtful nature and gentle humor, making him an incredibly appealing romantic lead.
It’s their interactions, however, that elevate Nobody Wants This beyond a standard culture-clash comedy. Their banter crackles with energy, their awkward moments feel endearingly real, and the development of their unlikely connection is both believable and deeply engaging. Whether they’re navigating differing family expectations, religious differences, or just the simple messiness of falling for someone unexpected, Bell and Brody make you root for them instantly. You feel the connection, the hesitation, and the burgeoning affection.
While the show occasionally leans into predictable rom-com tropes, the writing is generally sharp, witty, and unafraid to explore the complexities of interfaith relationships and personal identity with a light touch. The supporting cast adds humor and heart, but make no mistake – this is Bell and Brody’s show, and their sparkling dynamic is the reason to tune in and get hooked.
